I was recently commisioned by a very proud grandpa to paint a portrait of his two grandsons. The painting is a gift to his wife for their anniversary. I was able to take a very low resolution cell phone image and turn it into this painting of two very handsome young men. My client says he bets his wife will cry when she sees it. As long as they are happy tears, that's ok! I'm sure sweet surprises like this are why they are celebrating over 20 years of marriage! It makes me so happy to be able to help with surprises like this, no matter what the occassion!
I'm excited to announce that one of my paintings, "Gettin' Into It", was selected to hang in the Arts in the Airport Spring 2017 display at McGhee Tyson airport in Knoxville, TN. It will be on display from late April until mid October. If you're travels find you in the Knoxville airport, stop by and take a look at it!
Here's another painting I created from a cell phone image provided to me by Herschel's human dad. It was a gift to Herschel's human mom for Christmas. I love getting to help Santa by creating a piece of art that captures memories!
Here's what I've been working on the last few months! I have created a coloring book that will take you back to some of the fun things of the 1970s! The 1970s were my "growing up" years. I loved all the artwork in bright colors and the bold designs. I spent many hours creating colorful doodles on my blue denim three ring binder, my brown grocery bag book covers, and my folders. My favorite medium was Flair markers, but I also used colored pencils and pastels. If you're a child of the '70s like I am, I think you will enjoy some coloring fun and de-stressing with my coloring book "Memories of the 1970s". It's available on Amazon here. Let me know what you think of it. If you love it, I'd appreciate you leaving a positive review on Amazon.
Both boys recently had birthdays so mom thought it was time for a new family portrait. The boys were a delight as usual even though baby Lennon was on the move the whole time. He's crawling like a champ and thinking about walking soon. Big brother Denney was so cute trying to hold on to Lennon so he'd stay still!
Baby Hayden will be here soon! I had the pleasure of photographing mom and dad, Jessica and Jeremy. Jessica is absolutely glowing even though little Hayden is expected in a month or less. You can tell by the look on their faces that Jessica and Jeremy are going to be wonderful parents. Can't wait for Hayden to make his arrival and do his newborn portraits!
On a recent trip to my Mom and Dad's, I decided to take some photos of the many beautiful flowers my Mom has in the yard. While I was taking the photos I looked up to find I had an audience. These cows all seemed quite curious about what I was doing. They are Amish cows, owned by my parent's Amish neighbors, so I guess they had never seen a camera before. ;) They stood staring at me until I got a little closer than they felt comfortable, then they started backing up, all the while still staring.
Little Gauge is 3 months old! It doesn't seem like 3 months since I took maternity photos of his mom, Dana. He is such a cute little boy. He was all smiles because he was staying with his Nana Judy who was doing her best to spoil him!
Skipper is always on watch for those pesky squirrels. He was staring out the window at the tree where two squirrels had been just a bit earlier. He barked and scared them off. He's a good watch dog!
Here's a few more photos that I took this past weekend at the "Not-a-Workshop" hosted by Joshua Gull. Maryland wedding photographer Annabelle Dando and her husband Patrick were kind enough to model for us.
This past Saturday I was honored to be able to hang out with and learn from some other great photographers at the "Not-a-Workshop" hosted by
. Josh's idea was to get a bunch of photographers of all skill levels together and demonstrate techniques and how-to's. We had a great morning shooting and spent the afternoon talking workflows and business. Other speakers included
, wedding and portrait photographer from New Jersey,
, wedding photographer from the Baltimore/Annapolis/Washington, D.C. area, and Nashville's own wedding photographer
. We all had a great time, learned a lot, AND got to witness
. :) Here are a few of the photos of Andy and Kayla I took.
About two weeks ago I had the honor of shooting a maternity session for one of my best friend's daughter. I remember when Dana's feet didn't hang over the end of a chair and it seemed she always had Cheeto dust on her mouth and fingers - Cheetos are still one of her favorite things. Now she has a "little Cheeto" of her own - baby Gauge was born yesterday evening. He decided to come a week early. Hopefully I'll have some newborn shots of him to share in the next couple of weeks. :)
